Squidoo is An Artistic Way To Promote My Online Greeting Card Business

I've been devoting my time to applying my artwork, both new and from my dusty archives, onto Greeting Cards and Gift Items. Many of which I pulled out of my dusty archives.

The first time I put my hand to an art project was when my Aunt gave me a charcoal drawing set. I drew that project and went on drawing and fine tuning whatever I decided to draw. I liked, at that time, to draw animals such as horses or cows and would spend hours getting ever muscle tone down so my drawings looked real. I never wanted anything to look like a cartoon drawing (not that there is anything wrong with a cartoon). But through my life I have enjoyed drawing and creating.

I also went through 4 years of art while in school. As a young adult I moved on and learned different mediums, where I enjoyed some types very much. I discovered watercolors are very unforgiving if applied poorly. I enjoy oil painting immensely and have given my friends many of my paintings. I found painting with oils very relaxing and pleasant alternative to watching TV which I'm not fond of.

My intent for creating this lens is to showcase some of my creations that have been listed in a couple of my online stores. I laugh when I create some of my cards and think wow that piece looks great on that gift item. I have had some people tell me they love my cards and laugh when they read them. That's great and that's what creating Greeting Cards is all about offering emotion in paper.

All of that is the easy part! Now for the promotional part which brings me to the building of this lens. I have totally reworked it with a different spin on an online business.

I'm learning how to market my products. I've spent as many hours as I can learning from the pro's just how to do that. The Zazzle pro's and their newsletters have been an inspiration. I have two stores on Zazzle with my designs applied to both Greeting Cards and Gifts. I thank them for their expertise immensely. I also have a card store on Greeting Card Universe and they as well have been great with their 101 tips and tricks not to mention their promotional widgets, tweet button and 1. That's exposure and that's important in promoting your business. Social networking is also extremely important in getting your product scene.

This business is really not a get rich quick business, it does involve many hours of creating artwork, uploading and then the creation of your product whether it being a Greeting Card or a Gift Item on Zazzle. I enjoy being able to offer my original designs on products for sale so I will keep adding to my stores and hope one day with the advice I've absorbed and applied that I can have a profitable business working for me.

I can use all the advise I can get.

I read a lot online about site building, optimizing, places to advertise and get exposure. Input from other people is a big plus as well as their suggestions can be very beneficial.

I've learned that the social sites can benefit your sites, blogs ect. immensely and by adding your links to the bottom of your personal email can also be a plus to get exposure.

Note: The artwork in this modular is original and was created by my husband. It was created in Ink and shaded with pepper shading.

After reading to the point of my eyeballs just about falling out I've learned some pretty cool marketing techniques thanks to Zazzle where I have two stores as I mentioned above.

Promoting your online store(s) is a must. The store I'm promoting below is a gift store and I have added my Greeting Card store with many quality items. I've added original artwork to them that has been created by myself making them unique and creative.

The Dragon artwork to the right is a photo copy of a creation done by my husband. This wall art has 1000 hrs of work in it. It was hand drawn and finished in red, black & grey inks. It is very detailed and a beautiful piece that is actually 11"x 14" that hangs on our wall.
